The Trash Snacks 2035 Catalogue is a part of an ongoing zine and general collaboration between Steph McDonell and Phaedra Harder in which they push the limits what constitutes a “zine”, and play with the different ways in which narratives can be presented to a reader.

This catalogue is an artifact of a speculative future where our usual food sources have all disappeared and we’ve resorted to eating those that would likely be left: jellyfish, algae, insect protein and other seemingly unsavoury dishes. Don’t worry, the junk food industry is here to do what they do best: Package these foods in bright colours with fun names to make them seem like a fun snack.

“We know in this day and age that it’s tough to eat enough food-like substances to keep you going. That’s why we started Trash Snacks™, so you can spend less time scrounging for nourishment and more time worrying about the long-term survival of you and your loved ones. Not only are all our products certified edible®, they’re fun!

Remember: It’s better than nothing!
